Communities For Healthy Food

About the Program

Our Success

Since our inception in 2014, CfHF has served over 85,000 clients served and has increased its partnerships from 4 to 30; providing services including “client-choice pantry”, social service referrals for services such as healthcare, housing, immigration, and legal services. In addition, the recently expanded CfHF Hub also provides nutrition education, on-site SNAP Benefit enrollment and recertification, a “Mobile Food Hub” service that benefits home-bound seniors, that benefits internal partners like Randolph House and West Harlem Residence and external partners like City Meals on Wheels. The CfHF Hub also coordinates free healthcare appointments and trips to various farmers markets.

Internal WHGA Partnerships

1. West Harlem Residence (WHR)
In partnership with West Harlem Residence, WHR and CfHF-WHGA have developed and implemented supplemental assistance in food sourcing that will serve the shelter residents. Together, we will jointly work together to provide healthier alternatives to the individuals who participate in the program on a monthly basis.

2. WHGA-Randolph Houses & City-Meals on Wheels

In partnership with City Meals on Wheels, CfHF-WHGA provides 90 home bound senior’s access to a delivery service option. With this service, home bound seniors can receive a pantry bag items so they can prepare food at home. Based on the expansion of this program, City-Meal on Wheels will now service the senior residents of Randolph Houses.

Meet Paul Johnson:
After heart surgery, Paul changed his diet and now he regularly eats protein shakes, yogurt, fruit, and salad. “Trying to buy that type of stuff in the supermarket is very expensive. The stuff I get from them [CfHF] is very helpful. You get a lot of vegetables, and a lot of protein,” he said.
